 We begin with your Ruger No.1 which we rebarrel for the .303 British or .275 Rigby. We then slenderize the stock and forearm giving it our English Stalking Rifle treatment. We also add period appropriate sights. Once you handle the African Light Rifle, we are sure it will become your favorite stalking rifle. Cost for the conversion is only $3,000 unless custom wood is requested which must be quoted separately.
 
 And if you like the English pattern rifles and need a bit more power, our No.1 African Medium Rifle chambered for the justly famous and popular 9,3x62 Mauser is also available. Or if you prefer, we can rebarrel for .318 Westley Richards, .338-06, .35 Whelen (12-inch twist) or our own .375 Renner.

​Ultra-light No. 1

Or perhaps your interest is in something less African and more Walk In The Woods casual. Something              light, handy, and easy on the shoulder with plenty of power to put the meat in the freezer. 

Our treatment to create the Ultra-light No.1 is to slenderize the buttstock and forearm as seen in the photos        below. It is immediately obvious that the Ultra-light is also Ultra-slender making it handle like a fine Italian            shotgun instead of a typical hunting rifle. Quick to the shoulder and quick on target with razor fine accuracy.

Cartridges are matched to the Ultra-light No.1 with the consideration of sufficient power for humanely taking game and mild recoil that is still manageable in a light-weight rifle. While the .25-35 Winchester is shown, other good choices are the 7-30 Waters and the .30-30 Winchester. In the Ultra-light Carbine, we've mated it with the 7,62x39 Russian, which in commercial hunting loads is adequate for medium-size game. Another good choice for the Carbine is the ever popular .44 Magnum.
